In her new role, Ward will offer advice and practical guidance informing the investment strategy for the £101m venture capital fund backing UK clean tech entrepreneur. The venture capital fund is currently raising capital for its second fund, which is targeting £150m to fund net zero innovation.
Ward brings nearly three decade of experience in tackling climate change. Alongside her latest role at Brunel, she is also chair of the Working Group for Scaling Finance on behalf of the Transition Finance Council.
Commenting on her new role, Ward told Net Zero Investor: “The rationale behind the Clean Growth Fund is very much in keeping with my wider ambition of helping UK pension funds and asset owners to invest more in transition finance and climate solutions. This will enable me to hear first hand some of the challenges UK firms are facing. In my conversations with the Treasury, DBT, and other government departments I can be a conduit for these insights, helping to support more capital flowing into energy transition, job creation and sustainable economic growth.”
