McKinsey: Hungary can pursue growth without compromising on climate goals
According to an article by global consulting firm McKinsey, it is possible for Hungary to pursue economic growth targets without compromising on its climate goals. The analysis shows that at the core of Hungary's challenge are seven sectors that account for most GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions: transport, buildings, power, industrials, agriculture, waste management, and land use and forestry. Unlocking investments in these sectors that could facilitate the transition is key. The article states: "Our analysis estimates Hungary will need capital expenditure investments of between €150bn to €200bn from now through 2050, with a quarter of investments expected until 2030."
