NWF, Triodos and NatWest provide corporate debt backing for EV infrastructure
The UK’s National Wealth Fund, alongside Triodos Bank and NatWest, have provided £65m in debt financing to support the expansion of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure across the country.
Around £25m of the total has been contributed by the National Wealth Fund, with the remainder funded by the two banks.
The investment will back the rollout of charging points operated by Roam, a company owned by private equity firm Denham Capital.
Roam installs and manages alternating current (AC) – or fast – charging stations for electric vehicles. The firm has already deployed around 3,000 chargers and has a pipeline of more than 40,000 additional sites.
Deployment is focused on workplaces, hotels, residential flats, and shopping and leisure centres, supporting a ‘charge while you park’ model.
Earlier this year, EV infrastructure provider Believ secured a £300m investment from a consortium of lenders including Santander, ABN Amro, NatWest, and MUFG.
