Schroders releases Q2 sustainability report
Schroders, the asset management company, has released its investment report for Q2 2022. The report discusses a wide range of topics including engagement strategy, sovereign sustainability risks and the company’s sustainability analysis methodology. The report suggests that the company’s engagement focus was directed primarily towards Europe (excluding the UK) and Asia with both regions accounting for 28% of engagement activity. In addition, the report shows that the company voted on 399 sustainability-related shareholder proposals, 39% of that activity reported in Asia. The report also sheds light on “SustainEX™”, the company’s proprietary analytical tool. The report reads, “SustainEx™ provides our investment teams with an estimate of positive and negative “externalities” that companies and countries may create for society. It does this by using metrics chosen by Schroders and quantifying positive (for example, paying ‘fair wages’) and negative (for example, the level of carbon an issuer emits) metrics to produce an aggregate measure expressed as a notional percentage of sales (of a company) or GDP (of a country)”.
