Temasek subsidiary backs UK clean tech company

Singapore’s state-backed investment firm, Temasek has invested in measurable.energy, a UK-based clean technology company.

Temasek’s venture capital arm, Vertex, has co-led a £4m investment in measurable.energy through its Vertex Exploratory Fund, alongside the Clean Growth Fund, a UK clean technology venture firm.

This marks Vertex’s first investment in UK clean technology and the Clean Growth Fund’s second commitment to measurable.energy.

Other investors supporting the UK clean technology company alongside Vertex include Bonheur ASA/Fred Olsen, The RO Group, Vectr7, and Roger Ferguson, a former economic adviser to President Barack Obama and a former Vice-Chair of the US Federal Reserve.

measurable.energy provides customers with a smart plug socket that combines proprietary hardware and AI-driven software to tackle the “significant” energy drain from small devices. The solution helps companies eliminate electricity wastage, cutting energy costs and reducing carbon emissions by up to 50%.

Shang-Wei Chow, managing director, investment, at Vertex Exploratory Fund, who will join the board as a director, said: “The Vertex Exploratory Fund actively seeks out disruptive frontier technologies, with climate as one of the core themes in our investment strategy.

“measurable.energy stood out as one of the UK’s most promising climate-focused startups, offering a low-touch, intuitive, and compliance-ready solution that effectively reduces power waste.”

Jonathan Tudor, investment partner at Clean Growth Fund, said: “measurable.energy isn’t just another player in the energy efficiency space. Its advanced hardware and AI software represent a significant leap forward in energy management technology.”
