Adani Group and TotalEnergie’s strategic partnership focuses on green hydrogen
French energy giant TotalEnergies and Indian conglomerate Adani Group have entered into a strategic alliance aimed at green hydrogen supply. TotalEnergies will acquire a 25% stake in Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL), which is aiming to invest $50bn in the hydrogen ecosystem over a 10-year period. The announcement from Adani Group states: “ANIL aims to be the largest fully integrated green hydrogen player in the world, with presence across the entire value chain, from the manufacturing of renewables and green hydrogen equipment (solar panels, wind turbines, electrolysers, etc.), to large-scale generation of green hydrogen, to downstream facilities producing green hydrogen derivatives.” Both Adani and TotalEnergies are groups that have made their fortunes in high-emitting sectors and have been under significant scrutiny for action on climate change.
