Aon and Irish Life Investment Managers have teamed up to launch a €260m Ireland-domiciled emerging markets climate transition fund.
The new equity fund will be available to Irish pension savers, enabling them to support the transition to a low-carbon economy across emerging markets.
Building on Aon’s existing emerging markets transition fund offering — which was backed by a €330m seed investment from Aon’s €2.5bn Ireland master trust — the launch brings Aon’s total allocation to transition equities to more than €1bn.
The fund will invest in companies that contribute to climate action and other UN Sustainable Development Goals related to resource scarcity, healthy ecosystems and basic social needs, while integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles throughout the investment process.
Denis Lyons, head of investment at Aon Ireland, said: “Responsible investing is no longer a niche — it’s mainstream, with the market growing strongly in recent years. That momentum is now being felt here in Ireland. Despite global volatility, investors want to make a positive impact on the planet and society while also achieving sustainable, long-term returns.
“Our new Emerging Markets Climate Transition Fund provides a practical way for investors to participate in the global transition to a low-carbon economy. By targeting companies making tangible progress on climate and ESG outcomes, we aim to deliver strong financial performance alongside meaningful environmental and social impact.”
