Carbon budgets estimated for high-emitting sectors
Researchers from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) have estimated carbon budgets for 12 high-emitting sectors including aluminium, chemical, cement, steel, textile and leather, power utilities, gas utilities, agriculture and transport. The outcome is the UTS One Earth Climate Model – a tool for analysing sector roadmaps. According to the report: "The UTS OECM is an integrated energy assessment model with which net-zero targets can be developed, based on science, for all major industries in a granularity and with the key performance indicators (KPI) required to make short-, mid-, and long-term investment decisions.” The research was commissioned by the Net Zero Asset Owner Alliance and the European Climate Foundation.
