Dutch investor acquires full ownership of sustainable infrastructure developer Invesis
Dutch pension fund investor PGGM has acquired the remaining 50% stake of Invesis, a global developer of sustainable infrastructure.
The stake was acquired from the Royal BAM Group, with the transaction expected to close in early 2025. Following this, PGGM will become the sole owner of Invesis. PGGM invests among others on behalf of Pensioenfonds Zorg en Welzijn (PFZW). In total, PGGM manages some €257bn in assets on behalf of more than 5.6m participants.
This acquisition follows PGGM’s purchase of a 50% stake in Invesis BV in 2020, after the establishment of a joint venture with the company in 2011, aimed at committing to public-private partnerships (PPPs). Since then, Invesis has delivered a range of infrastructure projects, including Dutch flood protection schemes such as the Afsluitdijk dam, as well as public primary school initiatives.
Natasha Mol-Knechtel, head of PPP and social infrastructure investments at PGGM, said: “Invesis will also enable the public sector to provide sustainable infrastructure solutions that are closely matched to social or community needs, as well as decarbonisation and climate change priorities.”
