Finance for Biodiversity announces 15 new signatories, welcomes COP15 deal
At the COP15 conference in Canada, financial sector coalition ‘Finance for Biodiversity” announced that 15 new signatories had joined the pledge. The new signatories include global asset management companies such as UBP Asset Management, Tribe Impact Capital, Desjardins Global Asset Management and Avesco Sustainable Finance among others. The 126 signatories collectively represent €18.8tn in assets under management. This also expands the geographical reach of the pledge’s representation, with a total of 21 countries represented. The coalition and the pledge have advocated for biodiversity conservation and have also welcomed the recent biodiversity agreement from COP15. Anita de Horde, co-founder and coordinator of Finance for Biodiversity Foundation, said: “We are very happy that the Parties agreed on the importance of aligning private and public financial flows with the goals and targets of the Global Biodiversity Framework. This means that investments and financial activities by governments and the finance sector need to halt and reverse nature loss in 2030”.
