Innovate UK and GFI argue in favour of a dedicated net-zero delivery facility in the UK
Innovate UK, the UK government’s innovation agency and government-backed research organisation Green Finance Institute have released a report that discusses the range of solutions and capital sources that local authorities can tap into to augment their net-zero institutional capacities. The solutions discusses in the report include public-private financing, balance sheet funding and pooled and blended finance. The report finds that, “In our view, a dedicated net zero delivery facility needs to be launched in the UK to assist local authorities in turning net-zero concepts into an investible reality. This capacity could be deployed to support local authorities working singly or together to raise funds, providing the skills and capacity to support in-house teams to transform concepts into project-based procurement plans and business cases with terms sheets to support private sector fundraising”.
