Just transition is relevant for investors: Schroders’ Katie Green
In a blog, Katie Green, investment director, sustainability at asset management company Schroders argues that the just transition is a factor that is relevant to investors and their interests. Green conceptualises a just transition as a “principle” of managing a transition while taking into account the associated stakeholders. She writes, “Climate change, and the need to rapidly reduce emissions, can often dominate sustainability discussions with more companies, countries, cities and regions committing to net zero targets to limit long-run temperature rises. However, it’s important that in the process of delivering those ambitions, they do not neglect or undermine the positions of the other stakeholders on which their business models rest. Companies will gain little by delivering a climate transition but undermining the stakeholders on which they rely''.
