Stafford launches new renewable infrastructure strategy

Stafford Capital Partners, an asset manager with $8.8bn under management, has announced a new renewable infrastructure investment strategy. In a statement, Stafford said its new strategy will tap into infrastructure opportunities with a lower risk profile while maintaining ‘double digit’ return expectations.

To implement its new strategy, Stafford has integrated a dedicated team, based in Milan and Zurich. Angelo Prete, managing partner at Theia Investments – an Italian clean energy investor – will join Stafford to lead the team.

“Today’s energy landscape is shaped by price volatility, high development risks and increasing grid instability, all of which heavily impact the energy security concerns and climate imperatives. We believe this requires not just a strategic shift towards renewables but necessitates an evolved investment approach”, said Prete.

The announcement feeds into Stafford’s on-going push to strengthen its position in the infrastructure market. Earlier this year, the asset manager confirmed that its $1.1bn Infrastructure Secondaries Fund V will target a 25% allocation to transition infrastructure.

“Welcoming Angelo and his team to Stafford represents a significant development in our growth journey and commitment to delivering long term, sustainable investment opportunities for our clients”, said Angus Whiteley, Stafford’s chief executive.

“The team’s expertise in renewables enhances our ability to offer clients a broader suite of infrastructure solutions with a strong risk-adjusted return profile while contributing to the evolving needs of the energy transition”, he added.
