BeZero: Carbon removal offers significant first-mover advantage
Research by ratings provider BeZero Carbon has found that investing in early-stage carbon removal projects is significantly beneficial to investors. According to the research, carbon dioxide removal (CDR) is a core input in the 1.5°C pathway. This implies that investing in early-stage commercial applications of CDR can offer significant benefits including growth prospects, regulatory horizon planning and positive stakeholder perceptions. According to the report: “There is a huge challenge ahead to scale the CDR industry. So far, roughly half a million tonnes of CO2 have been removed from the atmosphere, with the majority of this from nature-based CDR. This number needs to climb to 165bn by 2050 to keep us on a pathway to net-zero.”
