Experts call for a renewed net-zero industrial policy in Australia
In a podcast episode, experts from Grattan Institute, an Australian think-tank discuss a report on Australia’s net-zero industrial policy. According to the experts, Australia needs a new industrial policy direction in order to overcome earlier inaction on climate and address concerns regarding employment and economic adjustment costs in Australia’s mining-reliant economy. The report finds that “Unless governments manage the coming industrial revolution well, Australia’s social fabric could tear, especially in the regions of NSW and Queensland where tens of thousands of coal-mining jobs will disappear between now and 2050”.
